Our Mission

Assisting parents in developing a God-centered worldview in their children, therefore, enabling students to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.

Our Philosophy

The educational process in a Christian School is dependent on a Biblical philosophy that provides the right world view and essential truths for life so that children may be prepared to assume their proper place in the home, the church, and the state. Accordingly, the philosophy of education for Salem Christian School is as follows:

Salem’s primary purpose is to assist parents in their divinely appointed responsibility to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The school family believes that all truth is God’s truth. The Bible is the only completely accurate guide to understanding truth. A proper education must rest on a Scriptural foundation. The school strives to provide a Biblically-based Christ-centered education. (Psalm 78:4-7)

School History

In 1979, the Deacon Board of Salem Bible Church recognized the need for a Christian school which would assist parents of the greater Lehigh Valley in training their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ. This process led to the formation of Salem Christian School. Classes began in September of 1979 with 17 students enrolled in an ACE program. Pastor Rick Goodman was the first principal with Mr. Tom Wetzel and Mrs. Pam Wersler (Sonnie) as teachers. The ministry of Salem Bible Church continued to grow seeing the addition of a multipurpose room and classrooms. During that time SCS began the transition from the ACE program to a conventional school classroom. In the spring of 1998 a gymnasium and science lab was built, allowing for continued growth and expansion of programs. By the spring of 1999 a 500+ seat auditorium and lunch room was completed. The fall of 2001 witnessed the most recent addition consisting of a new kitchen, locker rooms, computer lab, youth room and a new playground.

Salem Christian School was founded in 1979 as an inseparable, religious/educational ministry and integrated auxiliary of the Salem Bible Church. The Deacon Board of Salem Bible Church annually elects an executive committee, School Board of Trustees, to oversee operations of the school.

SCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Mid-Atlantic Christian School Association (MACSA).
