Application Procedure
For each student applying, the following forms are required:
Upon receipt of all required forms, an admissions interview will be scheduled. The presence of both parents is required, except under unusual circumstances. The purpose of the interview is to discuss your reasons for applying to SCS. It is also an opportunity for you to share concerning your child(ren)’s needs and why you believe SCS is best suited to meet those needs. During the interview the Admissions representative will explain Salem’s mission as well as the philosophy, goals, and programs of the school. A successful admissions interview enables the Admissions Committee to recommend your application to the School Committee for acceptance.
In the event a student’s records are incomplete or additional information is needed, an age-appropriate standardized test will be scheduled. A testing fee is applied, and parents will be notified in writing of the test results. Kindergarten applicants will be given a readiness test to determine adequate preparation for the Kindergarten program.
Upon completion of all the above procedures, parents will be notified in writing of acceptance or non-acceptance of the Family and Student Application.
