Salem Christian School Student Conduct

Student Conduct:

Rationale
The application of discipline at Salem Christian School is grounded in Scripture. Discipline is training which is designed to move the child of God from a condition of no control to self-control, and to Spirit control through God's grace in order to produce a harvest of righteousness and peace in Him. It is not to be equated with punishment, but should be based on the positive aspects of teaching, training, modeling, encouraging, and loving the student. Punishment, when necessitated by the situation, should be used only to the degree required to bring the offender within the bounds of acceptable behavior. Attitudes and responses should be modeled after Christ. Real discipline is discipleship.

Teachers and administrators are responsible to God for the young people entrusted to their care during the course of the day. As such, the school is given the authority by parents to discipline their children, and to administer it within the parameters of this policy. Parents will be kept informed of disciplinary action taken. Students are responsible to God to obey and respect school authorities, as they would their parents.

Students and parents are expected to be familiar with the school’s conduct policies and to willingly abide by them. Specific policies and procedures are found in the Parent/Student Handbook.
