Salem Christian Middle School Overview:
Middle School includes grades 6 – 8. Classes are semi-departmentalized, where students change classes to meet with teachers who specialize in their subject areas. The Middle School strives to provide a learning environment which both challenges and nurtures our students in these formative years.
During these early adolescent years, our professionally qualified and committed teachers guide students through this changing period in life with challenging academic instruction combined with the development of critical thinking skills. The Middle School curriculum is founded on traditional instruction in core subjects, including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and Bible. Art, computer, and physical education are also offered. Scriptural principles are integrated throughout the academic curriculum, as well as in every aspect of school life.
The Middle School also places emphasis on the moral and spiritual development of each student by providing opportunities to develop personal integrity, leadership skills, and a desire to serve others. Several outings scheduled during the year enable students to establish rewarding friendships. Grade level retreats held at the beginning of the school year encourage new and wholesome relationships. Weekly Chapel services provide opportunities for students to lead and to participate in worship, and to hear from various Christian speakers and area youth pastors.
Considering the importance of extra-curricular activities in the total educational program, Middle School students can participate in a variety of competitive athletics. Soccer, basketball, and track are offered for boys, while volleyball, basketball, and track are offered for girls.
