PTF Forum Question Form

October 25, 2016

With Grandparents’ Day behind us, we are on to the next thing – our scheduled PTF MEETING coming up on Tuesday, October 25th  at 7:00 pm.  There are two of these meetings scheduled, Fall and Spring.  All parents and faculty are encouraged to attend!  This is a chance to catch up on what the PTF is doing and be part of the planning.  Our meeting agenda will cover the following:

  • Parental involvement: expectations and barriers
  • Reaching out to new families
  • Room Parents: helping to create connections
  • Need for an elementary PTF representative
  • Upcoming schedule of events review, including the Christmas Program,

Elementary Christmas Store, and Book Fair.

Your PTF is growing and so are the opportunities for involvement!  As mentioned above, we are hoping to add at least one elementary parent to our leadership team.  We are also looking for someone who would enjoy helping with the Christmas Program refreshments and decorations.  If you have a particular interest in either of these areas, please come out to the meeting and let us know!

Our meeting will be held at 7:00 pm. in the cafeteria.  Please enter through the morning drop-off door.  We hope to see many of you there!

Additional helpers in all areas are always needed, so be sure to take a look at our page on the school website, found under the “Support” tab, to see the list of this year’s events and any sign ups that may be currently running.

If you, as a teacher or parent, are heading up an event and need help with a signup, let the PTF know by emailing us at ptf@salemchristian.org.

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to all the new families who have joined the Salem Christian School community!  Even though you are new, we heartily encourage you to get involved in the school’s activities.  There are many opportunities available, such as volunteering to help with the various social events we host, helping with the Christmas Store and Book Sale, and serving in the sports snack stand during games.  Getting involved is a great way to come alongside our faculty, get to know other SCS families, and help make our school life vital and welcoming!

To learn more, head over to the school website and find the Parent Teacher Fellowship page under the “support” tab.  There, you can click on “This school year’s specific information” to find a full listing of events.

The PTF was privileged to introduce this year’s team to those attending Back to School Night last Thursday. We had the opportunity to talk to and meet many parents, and came away with several key volunteer spots filled, including help with the Book Sale and the Boxtops program. Thanks to those who stepped up to fill those needs!

The success of a student at school is largely dependent on the partnership that parents and school have.  This is why we have developed a PTF.  This PTF is the organization that fosters that partnership through engaging with the school in order to accomplish things that enrich the lives of the students, parents, and faculty at Salem Christian School.

Few noteworthy items:

Mrs. Misselbeck will be leading the PTF this year.  You can contact her about connecting by emailing PTF@salemchristian.org.

Box tops have begun. Last school year you helped the PTF raise over $1400.00 that will go
toward funding PTF related events to benefit students, your family and the staff at SCS. We are looking forward to exceeding last year’s total, by getting started …. NOW!  Click here for the latest Box Top Flyer.
