School HistoryIn 1979, the Deacon Board of Salem Bible Church recognized the need for a Christian school which would assist parents of the greater Lehigh Valley in training their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ. This process led to the formation of Salem Christian School. Classes began in September of 1979 with 17 students enrolled in an ACE program. Pastor Rick Goodman was the first principal with Mr. Tom Wetzel and Mrs. Pam Wersler (Sunney) as teachers. The ministry of Salem Bible Church continued to grow seeing the addition of a multipurpose room and classrooms. During that time SCS began the transition from the ACE program to a conventional school classroom. In the spring of 1998 a gymnasium and science lab was built, allowing for continued growth and expansion of programs. By the spring of 1999 a 500+ seat auditorium and lunch room was completed. The fall of 2001 witnessed the most recent addition consisting of a new kitchen, locker rooms, computer lab, youth room and a new playground. Salem Christian School was founded in 1979 as an inseparable, religious/educational ministry and integrated auxiliary of the Salem Bible Church. The Deacon Board of Salem Bible Church annually elects an executive committee, School Board of Trustees, to oversee operations of the school.
